Dark Army

In the "Dark Army" series, this is the lieutenant.

Mild steel and cast bronze. Lifesize.

Enjoy.

Ron Mueck

This guy's work is absolutely insane! He makes all of the realists (myself included) working today look positively abstract. Personally, it seems that most of the sculptors I really admire today had at least a toe in the film business at some point and Mueck is no exception. Here is a pic to give you a little taste, an excellent video of him creating and installing some of his work follows...

Resources!

Welcome to the new community! I've been incredibly busy in the studio lately and will be posting pics of things to come, but in the meantime here is a hastily put together collection of websites that might be of interest:

http://www.sculpture.net
*A good site to interact with other sculptors; you may need to register (it's free!) to enjoy all the benefits.

http://www.propanels.com/
*If your work is professional, your display should be too!

http://compleatsculptor.com
*A good selection of burs and various tools, they're good people to work with.

http://www.smooth-on.com/
*I've been using Smooth-On products for over 25 years now, great mold-making materials.

http://www.sciencecompany.com/patinas/index.htm
*Located in my old stomping grounds, Denver, CO., they have a great selection of patina chemicals.

http://www.artfairsource.com/
*Tired of doing poorly promoted shows with low attendance? These guys thoroughly research art shows and compile a yearly list of the best. The book is a little pricey, but well worth the investment if you make a living traveling and doing art shows.

http://www.thebaseshop.com/
*I've tried local sources, but have never been as happy with the quality. Besides, John is a great guy to work with!

http://www.chavant.com/chavant_ob/index.shtml
*Over the years I think I've experimented with just about every clay on the market and Chavant Le Beau Touche HM is the only one I'll ever use again...

Well, that's all for now. Feel free to add to this list as the mood strikes you, I know that there are a tremendous amount of resources out there and I've just barely scratched the surface here...
